Volunteers spend the first part of the day in the lab, learning about the first stages of oyster propagation. From there, volunteers head outside to the 'eco-doc,' to which adolescent oysters are transferred.

On the eco-dock, volunteers will help with any number of activities depending on what BOP needs. On this day, we measured the growth of young oysters that were [intentionally] exposed to predators.

Once these oysters are sufficiently mature, they will be transferred to established oyster beds along the New York waterways, helping to clean up the rivers and curb the harmful effects of climate change.
